Heavenly Father

I am so grateful to Heavenly Father for the inspiration that is now Scriptures 4 Kids.  I am even more grateful for His hand which has guided this project from the very beginning.  I cannot tell you how many times in the past five years I have read the chapter when Nephi was asked to build a ship.  Like Nephi, I was not qualified to take on this project.  I had no computer programming experience, let alone all the other skills that I discovered were necessary to get the job done.  Yet, Heavenly Father has either qualified me for the job or He has placed people in my path with the talents and skills to get the job done.  I cannot count the miracles that have occurred throughout the process. I bear my testimony that God lives, that He loves His children and that He answers prayers! Through Him, all things are possible.  Through my experience, I am convinced more than ever that all the things that He has proclaimed will come to pass and that He Lives! I join with Elder Holland's proclamation that the Book of Mormon is true!

Yaya - Editor

Heavenly Father has blessed this world with lots of people with lots of talents.  But few are as skilled as my good friend Yaya Erickson.  I know Heavenly Father sent her to me because she has such a keen eye for detail and flair for the spoken word.  As an editor Yaya is able to find every fault, flaw and mistake that I frequently make. This site would probably be full of errors if she was not so quick with setting me straight.  Thank you Yaya for sharing your talent with me and this site.  But not only is Yaya an amazing editor she is also a wonderful friend.  I am grateful to her for making me laugh daily and for encouraging me when I so frequently want to quit!  Yaya, I love you!

Larry Mendoza - Project Management

Miracles come in many forms and for me one came when Larry Mendoza, my brother in law, moved to Arizona.  Larry brought this project back to life when it was all but dead. Larry took the reigns of the project and for an entire year dedicated his time and talent to Scriptures 4 Kids.  If you love the artwork in the book or enjoy what you hear, you have Larry to thank.  Larry pushed for better art and top-notch quality, when I was willing to settle for less.  During his year as Project Manager he oversaw almost every aspect of the project.  I am eternally grateful to Larry for keeping my dream alive and for having as much passion as I did about Scriptures 4 Kids.

Animantz

Animantz is an elearning and animation studio.  My team at Animantz has been amazing!  They have worked long hours to help create illustrations and to develop the games.  A sincere thanks to Sudha, Kumar, Seeni, Nabi and all the others at Animantz who worked on Scriptures 4 Kids.  If you are looking for illustrators, flash programmers or game development, I would be happy to tell you more about my experience with Animantz. 

Michael R Hicks - Music

Scott Jarrard - Illustrator

If you love the logo, look and feel of the website, then you love the artwork of Scott Jarrard.  Scott is an UBER (is that even a word) AWESOME Artist who is responsible for making Scriptures 4 Kids look so fun.  I have to admit that before Scott got involved, the site looked pretty boring.  He was the one who took my vision and brought it to life!  Scott is a master at creating fun and lively characters and illustrations.  So, if you are ever in need of an incredibly talented illustrator please give him a call at 1-231-SKETCH1.  You can find more of his amazing work at http://www.scottjarrard.com/ and see his doodles at http://scottjarrard.blogspot.com.

Scott Jarrard worked with Richard Oliver (designer-extraordinaire) on the Scriptures 4 Kids logo.  Scott created the character / mascot and Richard designed the original font / typography.

Adrian Tschubarov - Graphic, Flash and Website Design

When I began this project I knew nothing about computer programming or graphic design.  Adrian was my mentor through the first few years, building my faith and giving me hope that I could pull this off.  I am grateful to Adrian for his ongoing friendship and support.  Adrian is always there for me when I get stuck on a programming detail or when I need help with graphic design.  With 30 years of experience he brought a breadth of knowledge to this project.  If you are in need of graphic, flash or website design, Adrian is definitely the person to choose! http://www.tschubarov.com/

Kenna Reay - Support

I can't really put a title on the work Kenna did for this project.  Kenna has been an amazing support to me and my family throughout the entire process.  Kenna has done everything from watching the kids so I could work to giving me feedback on games.  It seems like there are an unlimited number of things that need to be done to keep this project going and Kenna has always been willing to do anything that comes up. If it weren't for Kenna, this project never would have seen the light of day because I just could not have done it alone.  Damon and I are eternally grateful to Kenna for all that she does for us on a daily basis.  She is one of the most wonderful people I know.  I know God loves me because He sent Kenna into my life.

Julie Porter - Copy Editor

Late in the project I found myself on my knees asking for help with copy editing.  We had written the stories, but I felt that they needed to be reviewed by a qualified editor. Like so many other times, Heavenly Father answered my prayers by bringing someone special into my life.  The day after my prayer I met Julie Porter.  Julie quickly became an avid supporter who edited all four versions of all 71 stories.  Julie is an amazing writer and editor and I am so grateful that I met her and for her involvement in this project.

Stories

Writing the stories was a difficult task.  We felt it was important that the stories reflect the message of the scriptures as closely as possible.  It was critical that the stories were doctrinally accurate while capturing the interest of each age group.  We appreciate all those who helped to write the stories.
